Projects

  1. Maths for GenAI (Generative AI) research collaborating with Charles Fadel (Vice-Chair of the Education Committee of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
    Funded by the Gates Foundation.
This project aimed to improve Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) for mathematics by addressing key gaps in data and assessment methods. Cambridge Mathematics' involvement addressed the first research question/objective: ‘Identifying valid mathematics-specific datasets: Researching appropriate datasets to train Large Language Models (LLMs) for math-focused ITS.’
  2. Educational work package for an interdisciplinary research project related to Probabilistic Programming Languages (PPL) and Bayesian statistics for disadvantaged learners; in collaboration with Dr Hong Ge (PI) from Cambridge University Engineering Department and Prof Alan Blackwell from Cambridge University Department of Computer Science and Technology.
Funded by the Alan Turing Institute.

This project aims to identify and bridge the gap between secondary school mathematics education and undergraduate-level STEM subjects, particularly first-year courses that involve Bayesian statistics. The goal is to make Bayesian statistics education more accessible and engaging for everyone by utilising probabilistic programming languages (PPL), specifically Turing.jl.
